Packing and unpacking in Davidson

Packing is where a move is quietly won or lost. A box packed right, labelled right and staged right gets carried once; every other box gets carried twice. In a split-level house on a slope, that difference is your whole afternoon.

How we pack

  • Labelled by room and by level. Not "bedroom", but "bedroom 2, upper level". On move day the box goes straight to its level through that level's best door, and nobody climbs a stair they didn't need to.
  • The kitchen packed last, unpacked first. It's the room a household actually runs on. We pack it so the working core (kettle, pans, the everyday plates) comes out in one box, first.
  • Proper materials, honestly used. Butcher's paper and bubble for the breakables, port-a-robes so hanging clothes travel hanging, flat-screen cartons for the screens. You pay for materials used, not a padded "kit".
  • Partial packs welcome. Plenty of families pack the easy rooms themselves and hand us the kitchen, the china and the garage. Good plan; it's exactly the split we'd suggest.

And unpacking, if you want the full finish

The unpack is the half most movers skip and the half that turns a full house into a working one. We assemble the beds, stand the wardrobes, unpack the kitchen to a live bench, and flatten the empties as we go. It's the engine room of the settled-by-Sunday finish, and it's available on any move, arriving or leaving.

What it costs

Packing runs on the same hourly crews as everything else we do, most often 2 movers + 1 truck at $250/hour for a pack day ahead of the move, and it shortens the (bigger-crew) move day it feeds. We'll tell you honestly whether a pre-pack day would save you money overall or just move the hours around; for many 2 to 3 bedroom houses it genuinely does. How the tiers work.
